Yogacharya Bharath Shetty is the first yoga teacher in India to be certified as E-RYT 500. He also has RCYT and RPYT to his credit. Having more than 2 decades of yoga teaching experience, he has conducted teacher training courses for around 50 batches so far and continues to educate yoga enthusiasts from around the world. He has successfully trained 550+ teachers and thousands of other students in his popular Mysore Style Classes.
Yogacharya Bharath Shetty was born on 19th March 1979, in Udupi, a town in South Karnataka, India. He started practicing Yoga at an early age, and was further drawn to the practice after he experienced the alleviation of the chronic asthma he suffered from. He is married to Archana Shetty, also a Yoga practitioner, and they are blessed with two beautiful daughters – Aajna and Abhijna.
He has 21 years of rich yoga experience. He first started practicing under the supervision of Yogacharya Kumara in Shantivana Trust, a Yoga and Naturopathy Center. He decided to become a professional yoga teacher in order to pursue his passion and use his immense knowledge to spread the benefits of Yoga to the World. For this he trained under world renowned Yoga Guru – Padma Vibhushan B.K.S. Iyengar, in Pune, India, which helped further deepen his knowledge and insight of Yoga.
He is a certified Yoga Teacher by the Indian Yoga Institutes, Vivekananda Kendra, Bangalore (A-Grade) and International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center, Trivandrum (Grade-Excellent) and was awarded with Yoga Siromani and Yogacharya titles on completion of his training. He is the winner of Himalaya Yoga Olympiad (Indian National Yoga Championship) Haridwar and Bangalore in 1998 and 2001, respectively.
Bharath is well known for his teachings and is the Director of the world recognized Yoga training school “Aananda Yoga India” . Bharath employs his own methodology and yoga system “Indea Yoga” to all his teachings. Every year he visits different parts of the world to hold yoga workshops in countries including Belgium, Germany, Malaysia, Switzerland, Thailand, Indonesia, Spain.
Across India he has also conducted many workshops in local studios and also in the corporate sector, for companies including Union Bank of Switzerland, Google, Wipro, Oracle, ANZ Information Technologies, and Theorem. Bharath was also a presenter at the 2014 International Yoga Festival in Rishikesh, India.
